Today water was frigid cold, so for warmup i didn’t jump right into freestyle, in all warmup swim sets I did breast-stroke.
I did the drills:
- swims : I split for hip-driven freestyle and shoulder driven freestyle (4x25 were straight arm shoulder-driven freestyle). The hip-driven free-style was better than last time when I learnt last time. Still some-times when I am going faster I forget to rotate the hips.
- kick on back (first time trying out this drill, I somehow felt that this required more core activation than regular free-style kicks)
Following drills, I tried easy swim of continuous 900meter (although I forgot the count of some laps so i swam somewhere 800 and 900 :|). Good thing was for most part rotated hips to get the free-style.
Next time:
For easy swim:
- Be more mindful of counting laps (my swim watch crap, it too forgets to count laps LOL)
- practice siting after 5 laps.
for drills:
- be more mindful of rotating hips when doing faster drills (though this is not that much priority, because I believe it will come with practice)
